I am always in search of the best low-sugar preserves. Many supermarket brands are way too sweet for my taste. I particularly like strawberry, raspberry, peach and apricot. Also, I prefer to pay under $8 for a jar. I found a nice Italian brand at Whole Foods, but I can't remember the name.

Thanks!

If you have one near you, Trader Joe's has terrific low-sugar preserves. Definitely not too sweet because they put in more fruit rather than adding a bunch of grape or pear juice. I can't remember how much I pay, but I don't think it's expensive.

I agree -- Trader Joe's brand is a winner, and they have several flavours -- apricot, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, Morello cherry, strawberry, to name a few. They're $1.39 a jar at my local TJ's.

TJ's has a couple of lines of low-sugar preserves. The ones I like are the "organic, reduced-sugar" preserves (in the larger jars with the black labels). The apricot is outstanding. I think they're less than $3 a jar.

I second that, I've got a jar of the apricot in my fridge right now. It is still sweet, but has more of the "fruit" flavor than the sugar-y flavor.

The organic fruit spreads we eat (which are different to the low-sugar preserved Ruth is talking about) contain no artificial sweeteners -- they have 8g of sugar per serving.

They're lovely to plop into your cottage cheese or non-fat plain yogurt.

I think the brand you're thinking of is Bionaturae. I've bought these organic, all-fruit spreads at Whole Foods, and they are excellent. Not particularly sugary, and taste of the fruit much more than most brands, especially the apricot.
