What's a decent brand of chardonnay for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that is somewhere between $10 and $20? I heard Yellowtail is excellent, but would like to hear some other names. Thanks!

I caution you to try to find a Chardonnay that isn't too oaky for T'day since too much oak can be very bitter with the kinds of foods typically served on that day. Also, while Yellow Tail is OK, it is nowhere near as good as others available.

That said, I'd suggest a few to look for. All were made in sufficient quantity that you should be able to find one of them.

Evans & Tate Chardonnay Margaret River 2003 (Australia)

Argyle Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2002 (Oregon)

Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay Casablanca Valley Cuvée Alexandre (2002 or 2003) (Chile)

Chateau Souverain Chardonnay Sonoma County 2002 (Calif.)

Concha y Toro Chardonnay Pirque Marqués de Casa Concha 2002 (Chile)

Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay Columbia Valley Indian Wells 2002 (Washington)

Four Vines Naked Chardonnay is nice because it is un-oaked. I like it with roast chicken so I am sure it would be good with turkey too.

I've heard Yellowtail is good, but how good can it be at $4.00? Ok, now I'm nervous. Have you tried Yellowtail? Is it decent?

Yellowtail is $7ish (if I recall correctly) at Trader Joe's in MA. It's definitely drinkable at that price point (though I like their Shiraz better).

You can get Yellowtail for $6/750ml and $11 for 1.5L at Canal's discounters in the so. jersey area but it's not a good as Fetzers and for the few bucks more I'd pay the diff.

If you're looking for a mild white, something guests will be able to sip while watching football or nibbling crudites, we serve Husch Chenin Blanc, Cloudy Bay Savignon Blanc, or Grgich Hills Fume Blanc. All offer excellent tastes and are mild enough so that they aren't offensive; the bonus is the cost per bottle won't put you into debt.

shopping at our local grocery market and came across some very popular australian brands that are quite reasonably priced and taste amazingly good, great value. look for the Yello Tail brand. I understand it is becoming a very popular liking amongst the locals.
