Diet Coke with Splenda
I like Diet Coke. I like Splenda (it makes being diabetic much, much easier.) But when I tried Diet Coke with Splenda for the first time tonight, I thought, "This reminds me of 'New Coke' ... too sweet, too much like Pepsi, too unlike real Diet Coke, a little like Tab." Anyone else try it yet?

I do NOT like flavored diet drinks BUT I have met Diet Pepsi with lime, it is really good, it does not have that artificial flavored taste most flavored soda's do, served very chilled it is a great treat, for me anyway, I do not like the Coke Zero at all, it is just way to sweet for me

How about Pepsi One which is also made with Splenda...how does it compare to Splenda Coke?

They just switched to Splenda for both "Diet Sprite" and "Diet 7-Up" and I hardly noticed the difference. Diet 7-Up is a bit sweeter, Diet Sprite stands up well to ice cubes. No caffeine but there's always iced coffee! :)

Tried it...did not like it. Horrible aftertaste.

is this the one called Coke One? If so, I tried it and did not like it at all. it had a funny taste to it. almost like a cross between sugared coke & diet coke, but neither one.

No, it's not the same one. It comes in a Diet Coke can with a yellow "contains Splenda" symbol on it. There are now several versions of calorie-free Cokes: Diet Coke with Splenda; Coke Zero; Diet Coke with Lemon, Lime, etc., etc. Very confusing strategy.

Tried it, didn't like it. It left me with a dry/coated tongue feeling. But, I don't like regular Diet Coke either.

foul, foul stuff. Just doesn't take like Diet Coke. At least they're not playing "new coke" with it.

Oh I LOVE the Diet Coke with Splenda. It reminds me of Coca-Cola Light from Mexico. I've been a major Diet Coke addict for about 15 years and I now strongly prefer the Splenda version to the original. Clearly I'm in the minority here though.

Doesn't surprise me. I find most prepared foods made with Splenda far too sweet. Wish they'd err on the side of not-quite-sweet-enough rather than the side of too-sweet.

I tried it, and it didn't taste different than regular Diet Coke to me, and I drink regular Diet Coke often. Just like anything else I guess, some of us like it and some of us don't!

It's so funny how different people's taste buds can pick up different things. I think that Diet Coke with Splenda tastes more like regular coke than diet coke does

I feel the exact same way. the normal Diet coke and other Coke produced Diet sodas leave a very sweetish after taste to me. The new one with spenda was much better in my opinion.

I don't usually drink regular Coke, mostly stick with diet Pepsi (can't stand diet Coke). I was recently in Europe and my friend who is a Coke addict was raving about the delicious European Coke made with cane sugar-needless to say, I spent 2 weeks drinking regular Coke. I find the Splenda Coke to be vaguely reminiscent of that Coke. Kind of lightly sweet with a very mild citrusy flavor. Definitely better than a regular Coke in this country which is so syrupy that I feel like I need a glass of water afterwards to get the sugar film off my tongue.

I like the Spenda version. Sorta like Diet Pepsi but with a cinnamon hint that makes it more like the current version of Tab -- definitely more flavorful than regular old aspartame Diet Coke, which strikes me as almost a blank canvas of caramel color. (I guess a lot of people like that.)
What I don't understand is Coke's brand strategy. They're introducing Coca-Cola One (also asparatame and also oddly flavor-free, but in a cleaner way than Diet Coke) right after Diet Coke with Splenda -- why not use that name for the Splenda version rather than having two different Diet Cokes?

It's not about taste, it's about winning the shelf space wars in the supermarkets. He who has the most linear feet of shelf wins.

They are different animals, definitely. I like regular Diet Coke as a sort of refreshing drink. To me, it never tasted in the least bit cola-like. I do like the Diet Coke with Splenda better for things that are more Coke-like. E.g., I like it better with pizza.
I am very confused about this Coke Zero thing, though. Isn't that just Diet Coke? So we have Diet Coke that tastes like Coke, and Coke that tastes like Diet Coke? WTF?

I once read that "New Coke" had been based on Diet Coke, so if that is true, it is not surprising that Diet Coke with Splenda might taste like New Coke since Splenda tastes more like sugar. I love Diet Coke with Splenda and am concerned that the Coca Cola Co. does not market it correctly. Really, they do not market the stuff at all. Coca Cola has gone to great lengths to market Coke Zero, but that product uses Aspartame. Coke Zero is supposed to be an Aspartame sweatenned soda based on the original coke formula. It is ok, but would be so much better if it had been made with Splenda. Then it really would taste like Classic Coke. As demonstrated by the comments to this post, some people are confused with thinking that Coke Zero uses Splenda. I wonder whether people who say they do not like Diet Coke with Splenda because of an after taste were really trying Coke Zero thinking it was made with Splenda. I have not found Splenda to have an after taste, although Aspartame products do. Pepsi correctly markets a Splenda flavored product called Pepsi One, which is what I buy when I cannot find Diet Coke with Splenda.

Interesting... I like Coke Zero. Plain old Diet Coke is still my "everyday" soda, but Coke Zero is a nice treat and reminds me of Coke Light in France (interesting that others compare DC w/Splenda to Coke Light...). I HATE Diet Coke with Splenda. I keep reading where others like it because it tastes more like sugar, but I've found it to taste terribly fake. It's cloying, oversweet, but not sugary. Plus the Splenda gives it an aftertaste similar to Diet Coke with Lemon, which I also dislike. I'd much rather have a plain Diet Coke with a slice of real lemon.

I'll stick with Moxie.
Wicked good stuff!

I did the other day, and it was awful. I found myself wondering if the owner of the restaurant who served it had driven it back over the border to Mexico to import some cheaply, and actually read the label to see where it was made (the reasoning behind this is that Coke in foreign countries often tastes different and has a different formula). Is this the formula from now on?
