She's not a fancy pants chocolate type- After 8 Mints and Junior Mints are fine by her. But I'd like to send something a bit nicer. Any suggestions?

And am I crazy to think of sending chocolate to Florida- I wonder if it's just going to be a melted mess by the time she gets to it...?

See's mint truffles. I can't seem to find them on their website, but you can call them: 1-800-347-7337.

Hmm, I called them and they said they don't have a mint truffle. The Peppermint patty-ish things look good but I want something a bit fancier, and I'm going with the Frango. Thanks for the suggestions!

That's bizarre! I've been buying See's mint truffles for decades (literally 30+ years now). But I haven't bought any in the last few months, so I guess it's possible they discontinued them. I know they don't like to include them in assortments because everything ends up smelling like mint, but they've always had individual pieces.

Obviously a visit to my local See's is in order.

See's still sells mint truffles, and the store manager was mystified as to why you couldn't get them by mail order.

Oh well, I hope your Mom likes the Frango mints.

Hi! A lot of people love those Frango mint chocolates from Marshall Fields (Chicago dept store). They are unique and quite nice. They do mail order. I also concur with the other poster who recommended Sees - they are also excellent!

if she likes after 8 & junior mints.. I can't go see a movie without junior mints myself.

has she tried "dutch" mints... sometimes called "holland mints". they aren't super fancy.. but rather tasty imho ... they are small, the size of a small marble, the center is like a york peppermint patty, but firmer. coated in chocolate, then coating in a thin candy shell... like an m&m but thinner. they are colored, light pink, green and white.

you can order them from the goelitz (jelly belly) factory... they'll ship anywhere... and the are definitely better when they fresh.

I love those mints. A local Italian place keeps them on the hostess stand and I always snag a couple of extra.
