Krys was sweet enough (pun intended) to gift me with a box of Chuao artisan chocolates from San Diego.

So I'm picking through the box looking for chocolates suitable for eating for breakfast, and finally settled on the honey truffle (good, but not as amazing as the one from LA Burdick) and Chevere: goat cheese, pear William and crushed black pepper butter cream.

Wow! I never imagined goat cheese and chocolate, but the tangy-tartness really works with the chocolate, and there's a lingering finish of black pepper.

So two questions: anyone else make goat cheese chocolates, and what should I try next from this box?

Don't know about goat cheese but I know Vosges Chocolatier makes them with cheese. Glad to hear what you thought because I love Vosges other chocolate but wondered what the chocolate/cheese combo. would taste like. Also happy to hear that you were searching for the perfect breakfast chocolate as I regularily justify my eating a homemade cookie (after all, it does contain butter, egg, flour...)for breakfast!

Serendipity Chocolates makes a "Chamonix" truffle. It's described as "Dark chocolate chevre ganache, dipped in chocolate and lightly dusted with cocoa butter "snow". Made with imported French goat cheese** this is chocolate cheesecake with a fresh, tangy twist...Available in both dark and milk chocolate." Here's the link:

Nutella mixed with mild goat cheese, stuffed into brioche and grilled like a panini is also very good. Laura Werlin mentions it in her great grilled cheese book.

I like less Nutella than she suggests in a ratio closer to 2:1 goat cheese to Nutella.
