If you're looking for regular, more affordable sea salt, as opposed to fleur de sel, I like Baline and Trader Joe's brand.

Aloha,

Several brands of sea salt are processed in Hawaii and are available in some Asian/Oriental stores on the mainland. They are less expensive and I believe it can be bought online too. There is also the "alae" variety that is reddish in color.

A British product. Excellent, delicate flavor, not that expensive - about five clams a pound or less in most stores. Very pretty appearance in a cut glass salt cellar on a formal holiday table, too. Good eats.

I second the Maldon. Can't live without it. Neither can Delia.
My mum used to mail it to me from England but now I can find it in specialist stores stateside.

LOVE Maldon - I got my first box from a specialty store in Vancouver and the clerk said that if I didn't like the product he would personally walk on his knees from BC to LA to give me a refund. Needless to say - he didn't have to make the trek!

I am too, and I do too, in a little blue vial. I like it much better than the French Fleur de Sel or the Light Grey Celtic Sea Salt, both of which I have around, as well as a no-name brand purchased from a Frenchman here for $2 a pound.
