I received many great suggestions in response to my post. I had to choose only two for now (with plans for more in the future), so here's what I did:

For my sister, though I was sorely tempted by the chocolate mice at LA Burdick chocolate, I decided to go with the "I Cru" varietal chocolate tasting by Amedei available through Chocosphere. The customer service at Chocosphere by phone was excellent. All my questions were thoroughly answered and they go to great lengths to be sure the chocolate is delivered in good condition, including going to weather.com to check the conditions in the delivery area. My sister told me the packaging was very elegant. She is a saver, so it will be a while until she digs into the chocolates, but all signs are good.

For my father, I decided cookies were the best choice so I ordered the large tin from Carol's Cookies. He was overwhelmed: the cookies are 1/2 pound each and he said they were delicious. As a gift, it made a great splash.

As for me, a box of toffee from Enstrom's is definitely in my future.
