June is going to be different from August, from year to year, and it's going to vary a lot depending on where you are. Perhaps you should try the appropriate regional board for the area you're interested in. I know on the SF board people post regular updates about what's currently available at the local farmers' markets, so you could also find the info by searching old posts for the dates you're interested in.

Our local farmers' market regularly updates their web page when they are open daily. I found a place that puports to list all the farmers' markets and I have included a link.

You might also want to check out any local Community Supported Agriculture farms in your area to find out what's coming your way. I miss my CSA but it was just too much food and I am not a canner. Here is a list of how things work at the CSA I may just have to join again now that I see their options: http://www.springhillcommunityfarm.com/shcfinourfields.html

Today's "Cooking with Kim O'Donnel" chat at washingtonpost.com addressed CSAs quite a bit, which might give you some insight into seasonal produce as suggested.

Also, for an online guide to produce (care, storage, etc.), someone in the chat recommended: http://www.aboutproduce.com/
