Reading about whether one should eat the rind or not, I thought that I would like to read more about cheese -about recognizing and enjoying unusual cheese varieties. Any ideas? (I've seen the Cheese Primer by Jenkins in people's houses, but I wasn't sure if there were better sources).

The Jenkins book is by far the most comprehensive book on cheese that is available. It doesn't cover the "new" cheeses that are coming from artisanal cheesemakers but as a general reference it is excellent.

I love Steve Jenkins' book, but check out the following: The Cheese Plate by Max McCalman, and any books by Juliet Harbutt (she has four or five.)

I have a vast library of cheese books, which I am willing to share. Cheese is my personal passion.

PS Feel free to eat any rind that is not waxed.

Thanks for the recommendations, Pat -- I will check them out. It is awfully nice to offer to share your library of cheese books as well! Thank you! I'm in Los Angeles though, and you're probably not -- I wish I could browse your library!
