<content>I know the holiday sweet splurges are over, but you might wannah think about this for Valentines Day (never too soon to plan your next meal!)

I met Shortstop at a Chow Social where she was shoving a handful of some rich, dense, sweet chocolate cake in my face, and directing me to "Try it!". Not a cake person, I nontheless tried (how dare I *not*!!), and it was indeed, the densest, fudgiest, best I had ever had....

Despite this, when she proferred her gift of a box of toffee to some of her comrades-du-chow the other night, I thought, "How good could it be?"

We opened it the other night as dessert to our NY deli feast, and it's only lasted this long because I took custody of the box...The toffee layer on this stuff is 1/2" thick. Not too brittle, easy to break into small pieces with your hands...The first ingredient in this stuff is AA creamery butter, that lends a wonderful crunch to the proceedings, with just enough salt to bring out a contrast with the thin, sweet layer of milk-chocolate, HEAVILY dusted with ground almonds, that coats it...This, in addition to the liberal almond chunks throughout...I didn't think I liked toffee, thank God this is almost gone!!!

Thank you, Shortstop! How does she find this stuff????

I think it was mail-ordered from www.enstrom.com

<content>You're welcome! Enstrom's was a Food Network find. One of those holiday shows where they showcase different foods. It looked great, we ordered a box to try, and were smitten. The stuff is addictive.

btw, it's Kosher.

I order via their 800 number, it comes in 1, 2, 3 and 5 pound boxes, and keeps in the fridge or freezer.</content>

GG, I discovered this fact late in life but man oh man do I believe it.

Anyway, I too was a grateful recipient of this toffee and I've been saving it in a delayed gratification kind of way. I know shortstop's sweet chowhound skills are unparalleled and if she tells me something is good, my only answer is "how many pounds should I buy to start me off?"</content>

<content>ROFL!! After breakfast? If it's around, I have it FOR breakfast. Yesterday I had butter pecan ice cream. And while I'm confessing, last week I had a nuked big mac and a coke in a little glass bottle that was so cold it got slushy when I opened it. It was heavenly.</content>

<content>You all are right - this toffee IS that good! Something about the balance of just barely salty almonds and terrific buttery toffee. I got a 2 lb. package as an unexpecteed Christmas present - and I've had to put it away, in a spare bedroom, where I can still get to it, but not gorge... well, not gorge a lot! It does make a fine, fine breakfast.</content>
