As someone who loves eggnog but is too lazy to make it, I finally found a great store-bought one: Horizon Organic -- it is silky and rich and did not have that chemically taste that so many store bought ones have. It reminds me of what I learned to like as a child. It was $4 a quart but well worth it in my opinion. I liked it both with and without bourbon. Are there other brands out there that hounds recommend?

Here in So. Cal. we have a local brand called Brougere's (I know I'm murdering the spelling). It's delish and so rich it's more like an eggnog mousse.

1 egg
1 shot rum (pyrat)
2 shots half&half
1 tsp powdered sugar

Dump it all in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain into glass and sprinkle with nutmeg. Optionally, you can microwave it for a few seconds.

Yum. It's better, of course, if you whip the egg and half&half first but... who has the time?
