Citrus on Santana Row
I had never heard of this restaurant but got invited to go there on Saturday night by my friends. Overall, the food is pretty good but slightly pricey, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Here are the details: We started off with an order of Truffled Fries. If they are called truffled fries, I'd expect some friggin' truffle flavor. I only barely tasted it mildly on 1 or 2 fries. I was tempted to ask the waiter if they had forgotten to put on the truffle oil but I didn't want to make a scene. Nevertheless, I expected much more trufflicity for $7 potatoes.
The main courses were much better though. My GF got lamb chops, which had a tasty mushroom & wine sauce. My Angus Ribeye steak was topped with gorganzola butter and 'shoestring' onion rings. The steak was very good and the toppings complemented it. It was not amazing though. Their mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful. My friend enjoyed his NY Strip, but I didn't try it. His fiancee ordered prime rib, but they mistakenly brought out a Ribeye. It was late at night and when the waiter came back, there was a big hunk of prime rib about 2.5" high on her plate! They must have just given her the rest of the roast. I tasted a bit of the outside and it was very tender and tasty.
I did not look at the wine list because my friend chose a wine, but the wine we drank was good and bold, holding up to our red meats.
