Has anyone tried Blavod (black vodka)?

So I've been hearing about this black vodka from the UK, called Blavod. Apparently it's all the rage for making dark cocktails in California?

Has anyone tried this vodka? How do you like its appearance and taste in cocktails?

Here's an article about Blavod from the LA Times:

I remember buying a bottle when I was a student (in the UK) - it was on special.

I can't say much about the taste - it certainly wasn't unpleasant - but my undying memory is what the bloody marys I made with it looked like. Something like clotted blood. Hmmm...

Its a pretty straight-forward, semi-smooth vodka with little flavor. The color comes from some South American fruit, but has no flavor. Really, you can get comparable or better vodka for less money - depending on where you live. Its main attraction is the color it can give a cocktail.
