I was shopping in one of my new local Asian markets the other day and saw two "meats" that I am just not that familiar with, Beef Pizzles and Pig Uteri. Ok, this is a first for me in a long time. I have no clue. How would you prepare these "meats"? What dishes are they used in? Do they taste good? Anyone know of and try any other really "interesting" meats or see them in a market and were curious?

Beef Pizzle? In a cream sauce naturally? Badum bump.

No seriously, that's the way I had it at Kabab Cafe in Astoria, Queens. It's very chewy, with very little taste. Much like calamari.

Are you saying you don't know what they are, or you don't know how to prepare them? I saw on some food show recently an oriental chef preparing a soup with beef pizzle (penis for those of you who may be wondering). The soup was a broth with pieces of pizzle (hee-hee) and some veggies in it. I was so amazed at the pizzle size I didn't pay that much attention to the preparation of the soup. And pig uteri, I just don't know. I guess that would be plural as in cacti. You are a brave soul. Good luck.

Ah....pig uteri. The things that inspired the most disconcerting question I've ever been asked:

"Do you know what you just ate?"

Just couldn't eat any more after that. No big loss, they didn't have much flavor and had an odd, squeaky texture...kinda like squid.

No puzzles over pizzles. I say deep fry 'em and serve them up with sweet-n-sour hot sauce. Probably be a good idea to have boilermakers on the side, just a thought, in case.
