While shopping in Border's book store for some music book bargains, I ran into this book in the aisle. I took a very quick look at it, but had to move on.

Have any of you seen this? Is it worth buying?

Barbecueing ain't the same as grilling, by any means. Barbecueing is slow smoking and cooking meat for very long periods over wood or wood chips with various things like sauce or mops or rubs or "Nekkid" (= nothing put on the meat). Grilling is just what it says - cooking food on some sort of grill rack over a heat source of some sort, usually charcoal. If the Barbecue Bible is about grilling, it's just one more indication of the decline of culinary civilization, which depends heavily on the accuracy of it's terminology. Thus spake Zarathustra.

OK Zarathustra, but really, I wasn't looking for a recommendation for a beginners book on grilling or barbecuing. I was just wondering if anyone had read the "Grilling for Dummies" book and if it was any good.

The other books recommended are actually in our local library, and I have used a recipe or two occasionally.

I'd recommend another Steve Raichlin book, How to Grill. It's the best book for beginners, I think, because of the wonderful recipes, color photographs (lots!!), and detailed instructions.

I second the Raichlin book. It's very easy to follow, and the recipies are fantastic - not fussy and not difficult. Everything I've made (including the prime rib, which I fed to my in-laws for Christmas dinner this year) has been great.
