I picked this up when it was new (1993) and somehow never used it. Now it appears people are paying $150 and more on sites like Alibris because it's out of print and they've worn out their original copies. I know the original Victory Garden book appears regularly on recommendation lists. But why the impassioned pleas (see Amazon customer comments) on this one? Can anyone recommend a prime-example recipe or two to try before I succumb to the temptation to cash in?

Perhaps it is nostalgia for before they ruined the show this past year. It was good "real" gardening show like put potato pips in old egg cartons and now seems to always be about shopping for that oh so fabulous container.
