Cheaper fleur de sel available via internet

Here is Corby Kummer's article on fleur de sel from the March issue of The Atlantic. Towards the end is a link to a store that imports a reputedly marvelous Portugese fleur de sel from a company called Necton.

    1. I could not find the salt at zingerman's site. I did find a site http://www.earthy.com that has white fleur de sel which according to the articles is likely to be the Necton product repackaged in France.

I found it hard to wind my way to the salt info at earthy.com so here is a link that will take you right there.

Even if you don't read Portuguese (I don't) you might find the pictures on this page interesting.

Here's the deal on flor de sal. I emailed Zingermans and they replied that all of the salt was sold before it ever left the boat! People had called
and ordered ahead. If anyone is interested in preordering for the next shipment due in the end of this month, call 888-636-8162. The 250g corrugated box retails for $8, plus shipping and the 250g bag, $7, plus shipping. Or email them yourselves at Zingermans.com and they'll
save your email address and contact you when the next shipment is in. Nice folks, the Zingermans.

                        Hi Pat!

I checked their website the day Samo posted and they had a link to pre-order the salt. The next day when Wrayb checked, it was gone. I can't help wondering how many prompt Chowhounds may have contributed to that?! :)

You may be right! In any case, if it was all spoken for before it was even off the boat, I'll bet Zingerman's was somewhat overwhelmed.
