Anyone ever watch this excellent show starring food expert Keith Floyd?

I loved that show...

He remains one of my all time favorites. As I recall, there was Floyd on Food and Floyd on France, too.

Does anyone know what he's doing now? It would be great if Food TV re-ran some of his shows.

The Frugal Gourmet (Jeff Smith) was good but wasn't he involved in some kind of career-ruining scandal?
Floyd has been on PBS from time to time and is quite entertaining. I think he was in Mozambique last time I saw him.

Floyd's latest exploits have seen him in India. Shown on Channel 5 over here in england and consequently seen by me two people and a dog named Bernard.

His cooking is about as authentic as going down your local slop curry house, but he is enormous fun and he can, from my own experience of an evening with him, drink like he has hollow legs.

In this world of plastic TV "chefs" Floyd is an original

I would buy a satellite dish and stay up until the wee hours of the morning if I could again see Floyd "slurping" his way through another fish recipe in someone's small home-kitchen on the English coast.

So, why doesn't the Food Network replace some of their awful original programming (which they must pay to produce) with re-runs of these old classics and others like it?

First of all, Jeff Smith was awful. If i could spell the words "condescending" and "obsequious", i'd use them to describe his tv presence. How 'bout "smarmy". And he was (see posting below) involved in a scandal: He liked little boys. Apparently, PBS let him leave quietly and no charges would be pressed.

I found him to be quite entertaining. But saying that I miss his show was not an invitation for a lecture on how "awful" he was etc. I don't recall saying that he was the greatest cook on tv, or that his cooking was authentic. So, why get bent out of shape?...

Floyd On Africa was recently on PBS. I saw a couple of them thanks to information from one of the Chowhounds (search the archives for postings by other Floyd fans). The programs were kind of fun but nowhere near as good as the previous ones. Neverthless, it's always cheering to see Keith Floyd again.

Keith Floyd is part of this year's Great Food series on PBS. They're showing Floyd on Africa. Here's a link to some of the recipes:
