This essay from the NY Times Travel section has an interesting take on how to choose whom to seek chow advice from when you're a stranger in the city.

A fun article. But I have to admit that the last person I'd want to approach on the street is someone who looked like me.

    1. There was a thread on this board a while back..discussing how to find a good restaurant in a new place..it involved not just who to ask...but also how the question was phrased..be more specific than..what is a good place? just like on this board...I just tried to find the thread and couldn't maybe some one else can..it was very thorough.
