For a white try a Spatlese or even an Auslese level Riesling. Kurt Darting is a good affordable producer. For reds, Zinfandel or Aussie Shiraz match well. If you want to splurge go for an Amarone.Sounds decadent.

Champagne or a full-bodied sparkling wine is my first choice... pinot noir if you favor red. Enjoy!

Go for a gewurtztraminner - I promise!!

It's slightly, only somewhat sweet, with strawberry and peach undertones. I recently had a bottle at Single Pebble in Barre, VT (recommended by our waitperson) and wow - what a match!

How was your meal at Single Pebble? I went there a year ago with a friend who lives in Montpelier. I was very impressed - an unusual combination of very good food, great service and a tasteful decor. What a great find in the middle of Vermont - who would have thunk? Even though I live in the SF area, I'd love to have a Chinese restaurant like this in my area.

I echo the champagne suggestion. A couple of years ago, we charged a huge vegas blow-out to my (former) big 5 firm. the dinner was a multi-course extravaganza at chinois and the wine was a pink champagne from some california producer with a european tie, maybe chandon. it was the best wine-food match i've ever had.

on the other hand, for a lot less money, i've been drinking a very cheap malbec from alamos (agentina). it's rather sweet and fruity, and i had thought it'd go good with chinese. perhaps, there is not that big of a leap anyway from peking duck to parillada.
