At a sushi place this weekend, they gave us tall glasses of chilled tea. It seemed like green tea, unsweetened, but it was somehow flavored with--toasted sesame? Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks!
Allie

  1. It may have been gen mai cha-green tea with roasted rice.

    1. There are a few possibilities. For chilled tea, it could have been a roasted barley tea (mugi-cha), similar to the kind you would get at Korean restaurants. Otherwise, it may have been chilled oolong tea. If the color of the tea was more greenish, then there are other possibilities, like iced roasted brown rice tea (genmai-cha) which I don't think I've ever seen.
