Salinger's Orchard in Brewster. It's just off Rt. 684
north; take the Hardscrabble Rd. exit (exit 8, I
think). Turn right at the top of the ramp, then
immediately left. Take the first left, under the
highway, and Salinger's is a little way along on the
right.
They have fabulous cider, apples, doughnuts, and pies,
and lots of pumpkins (last time I visited). They don't
have pick-your-own, though.›1 Reply-
re: Josh Mittleman
Josh, thanks so much for your suggestion. In fact, we
wound up near Chester, New Jersey (about 55 miles from
midtown) at a lovely 90 acre farm called Trout Brook
Farm on State Park Road near Hacklebarney State Park.
Wonderful golden raspberries still available for
picking, perfect pumpkins and excellent, unpreserved
apple cider. Absolutely worth the trip. But next
time, I'll check out Brewster.
