A friend just gave me a recipe for ribs and suggested I use a whole bottle of liquid smoke. It seems like too much. Any thoughts?

There might be different brands/strengths, but I used some 15-20 years ago, IIRC I used a teaspoon or a tablespoon in a bbq sauce.

"Any thoughts?" Ask your friend.

No brand is that weak that you need more than 1-2 teaspoons for a recipe. If you used that much, smoke smell would be coming out of your pores and exhalations for weeks.

how many heads of cattle are you cooking?
liquid smoke is really strong stuff, before you start boil a cup of water and add a couple of drops into it, taste it and this will guide you as how much to use.

A "bottle" could be 1 oz or 32 oz. Or a gallon? Maybe you should ask your friend.
