Overpriced. Average quality. Small portions. The best thing about the place is its outdoor seating on a nice day.

I had a terrible rendition of Chili-Cheese Fries ever there last week - they used a soupy, tomatoey chili with very little meat that immediately destroyed the crispness of their tiny fries.

My assessment - way overpriced, above average quality, small portions.

Liked the fish and chips, but the price was crazy - $12.95 for 5 small pieces. Onion rings and garlic fries, very good. Fish tacos - not impressed at all and these were supposed to be one of their signature items. I'm not going back.

Have yet to try the Taylor's at the Ferry Building, and am wondering if they offer the same non-standard-American-fast-food such as the fried calamari, gazpacho, or chicken salad (Chinese version) that they have at their St. Helena location? Also, what about their famous white pistachio milkshakes? Generous wine selections? Are any of these featured on the menu of the Ferry Building location?

If so, the place may be worth a second try. If not, then it sounds over-priced -- notwithstanding the nice scenery and picnic-table surroundings of the waterfront.

I have only glanced at their menu before the actual opening of the Ferry Bldg. location, but did manage to make a mental note of their hamburgers for $6.50-7.50; $2.00 for fries; and $11.50 for fish tacos. For that kind of dough, if I really needed to satisfy a craving for nostalgia and a good burger, I think I'd much prefer to catch the "F" antique street car to the In-N-Out at the Wharf and still make it back to the office after lunch in time for a productive afternoon.

Never been to the St. Helena location - wanted to for a while, but never got around to it (thankfully - after going to this one), so I can't give any feedback versus the other location.

Main thing we noticed was the very poor price to quantity ratio, despite good quality. That said, I really thought the garlic fries were great. Nice and crispy thin fries (not a fan of thick), great fresh garlic and salty taste, and nicely tossed. Best I've ever had (honestly) and far better than the thicker PacBell or Gordon Biersch fries. These are the thing I'd consider oredering if I went back.

I would definitly recommend a quick streetcar ride to In-N-Out for Double Double Animal Style over Taylor's - IMHO.

Have had great experience/food at the original. So...are we saying that the new one just doesn't do the same job, or that the concept doesn't translate well to new location, or do folks not like the Taylor's up north either?
