I think it's been in my desk for about 2 years. I have 3 packs left and I think I might just throw them in the garbage. This stuff makes me want to puke by the time I get half way through.

Should I just chuck them out or can I turn my last 3 packs into something edible?

Thanks.

I often eat instant oatmeal, the "use by dating" is usually less than 2 years, my current batch, purchased last week "expires" in Aug '07.

If it "makes you puke", leave them in the lunch room, if your work is similar to every place I have worked, someone will take them.

Not really a solution for "at-work oatmeal", but you could easily use up your packets at home, using one packet at a time in crisps, bread, etc. That would keep you from wasting food.

Offering it to colleagues, as someone suggested, is a good idea too.

The issue for me is the texture. So: waaaay under cook it, then add granola or trail mix so you don't get the gag reflex halfway through. Maybe mix in some yogurt for tartness. And don't buy it again. :)

What flavor is it? If it's the plain (or original) one, I usually take a whole packet of hot cocoa and mix w/ about 3/4 cup of hot water, add that to the oatmeal, along w/ one sugar cube and possibly more non-dairy creamer... YUM! Dessert for breakfast!
