About a year ago, someone posted an amazing Margarita Mix Recipe from scratch. It was amazing. I tried a search to no avail.

I use Patron silver, mostly. So, I would love to hear some of your recipes. Thanks in advance.</content>

<content>Our mix is equal parts tequila and FRESH lime juice (please, nothing from a bottle). Usually use 2 full jiggers of each, then a jigger of Patron Extra Fine Orange Liqueur, a splash of Grand Marnier and a little splash of OJ. It too tart, can add a spoon of sugar. Mix and serve over ice. As usual, sometimes it take at least one or two to really tweak the recipe, bit more lime, little more tequila, all part of the fun.</content>

Wow, this sounds good.

Forgive my low acumen for bartending, but are the ingredients poured into the glass in that order?

And, by jigger that's basically a shot, right? I think I have one of those stainless devices.

So, it's 2 jiggers of tequila
2 jiggers fresh lime juice
1 jigger of the patron orange liquer
splash of grand marinier
splash of OJ
sugar to taste?

That sounds like a strong drink. Can't wait to try it.

<content>The order makes no difference. We just pour it all in a pitcher, stir it up then pour it in the ice filled glasses. Oh, we usually double or triple this on a warm Saturday afternoon.

I use the large end of the jibber or shot glass. I think you could use anything you like as long as you maintain the measurements.

Enjoy, we sure do. Oh, and we call it a "Killer Maggie!!"</content>

<content>The recipe we use is from one of Rick Bayless's cookbooks. I'll have to type it in later, but it involved steeping the mixture overnight. In a moment of drunken whimsy we dubbed them "Dancing Sperm Margaritas" because it had all the little bits of lime floating around in it. </content>

<content>Ok, from Rick Bayless's "Mexican Kitchen" (great book, I highly recommend it!)

Dancing Sperm Margaritas (aka Frontera's Gold Margarita)

2/3 cup Sauza Comemorativo tequila
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp lime juice (about 2 large limes)
1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest
5 tbsp sugar
1 cup water

Lime wedges
Coarse salt

1) Mix tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, lime zest, sugar and water in a glass or plastic pitcher until the sugar dissolves.

2) Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours, but no more than 24 hours. (Don't be tempted to skip this step, it's what makes this recipe great!)Strain into another pitcher if you want- we sometimes just leave the zest in it, which, when you're happy and drunk, we decided looks like dancing sperm, thus our name for it.

3) Rub the rims of margarita glasses with a lime wedge, then dip the rims in a dish of coarse salt.

4) Taste the mix and add more water if needed. This is a STRONG drink.

5) Serve the margaritas on the rocks in the prepared glasses. </content>

<content>This has been my favorite for a while now...it's a bit more work than most, but I think well worth it (and it's not much...quite easy).
3/4 c. lime juice
1/4 c. lemon juice
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. pineapple juice
1/4 c. sugar
1 Tbs. lime zest
1 Tbs. lemon zest
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan, heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Cool all the way to room temperature and then strain.

For the margaritas:
Chilled margarita mix
1 c. favorite tequila
1/2-3/4 c. cointreau or triplesec

Serve either on the rocks, or sometimes I'll put it into a shaker, shake it up, and serve strained into martini glasses rimmed with salt for something a little jazzy.</content>

<content>This is my favorite margarita. Got the recipe from Tonto Bar &amp; Grill in Cave Creek, AZ. I'm not at all sophisticated about tequila, so I don't have a recommendation as to any particular one. (I've been using Jose Cuervo Gold.)

2 jiggers sweet &amp; sour mix
1 jigger orange juice
1 splash Rose's Lime Juice
1 splash Sprite
&#189; oz. Triple Sec
1-1&#189; oz. tequila

I just put it all in a blender and pour it over crushed ice. Garnish with a slice of orange. Good stuff.</content>
