Epicurious used to have a forum at their website that was great but the format changed for the worse recently...many of the "regulars" got together and created a new forum at www.finerkitchens.com and there's a great deal of swapping going on with some excellent recipes (my opinion)...just click on the upper right "recipe forum" if you go there. It's a very friendly group. My other favorite site, of course in addition to chowhound, ahem, is www.sautewednesday.com. Have fun exploring!

FinerKitchen's swap is really becoming the new "Gail's" and that's a good thing!

I also like Uncle Phaedrus: Finder of Lost Recipes. It's a site for nostalgic things ("My mother used to make...") and Commercial recipes ("I really like ChiChi's Salsa...") And I've been wondering for a year if its the same Phaedrus who posts here, too!

Hi,

I work at FoodieView. Thanks for the free plug!

pitu, Google will probably always be better at finding rare recipes -- things like a recipe on a newspaper site from a local chef.

There are a couple of things that I think FoodieView does much better than the competition:

-- Finding recipes by ingredient. If you want to use up some chicken, some corn, and some tomatoes, you can just type in "chicken corn tomatoes" into FoodieView and get a decent list of choices. I don't think a regular search engine is that helpful in this regard.

-- Comparing different versions of a somewhat common dish. You can look up "carbonara recipe" on a regular search engine, but you might not get the most authoritative sources first, and you'll probably find a few spam pages too. FoodieView sorts the recipes by user rating as well as relevance.

So I guess each tool has its place...

Cheers!
Howie
