pho has no soy sauce. in fact, most of the thai and vietnamese dishes i've ever made have no soy sauce. i think fish sauce takes its place. i'd say those are good cuisine choices for your food restrictions.

even if correctly diagnosed, many people outgrow their allergies, so it's important to get retested periodically. don't just assume that it's a life long ban. of course, do your retesting in the appropriate forum.

When you were instructed not to ingest dairy, did that include eggs? Eggs are from poultry, not cattle. (I know...Duh!) Just because eggs are sold in the dairy section of stores does not mean that you are allergic to them unless you were specifically told that you are. I speak as a person who, as a child, was allergic to eggs among many other foods and environmental allergens.

Was the physician who informed you of your allergies specific about the food allergens or was s/he vague. Some physicians consider us lay people too stupid to understand our medical conditions. I avoid such physicians. If you did not get a detailed explanation of your allergic conditions from your physician, ask for one. If you don't request such information, you won't get it.

BTW, I desensitized myself to eggs, specifically the albumen, several decades ago by ingesting a little bit of fried egg albumen at a time to the point where I can eat 3 whole eggs at a time.

My daughter also had positive testing towards soy. However, she drinks soy milk and eats tofu with no ill effects. The only time she has a mild reaction (rash and darkening around the mouth) is towards soy sauce and even then, its not all brands of soy sauce.

The doctor's report was positive for soy but who knows. I don't think its MSG cause we find that quite a bit in our foods (we're asian). We found that when she had soy sauce in restaurants, her lips and the skin closest to her lips would turn a purpley-black for days.
