Anyone else finding that this cappucino/latte maker has some problems? Like leaking from the middle even when the top is screwed on quite tight? Any advice?

Is it the rubber gasket? Does it have one? My stovetop espresso makers gaskets have to be replaced regularly.

The gaskets do wear out and if you get even a grain of ground coffee on the gasket you will not get a good seal and it will leak. Make sure it is totally clean and wipe it with a damp paper towel before screwing down the top.

Huh, this thing is brand new so the gasket should be good and I have been careful to wipe off the coffee (with my finger!) but will try the damp paper towel.

Sometimes it takes a while to "wear in" the gasket. I just got a new stainless espresso maker and had to run water through a few times to loosen up the rubber. Also, as others have mentioned, scrupulous cleaning and lowish heat help.

I also have had this problem. I find that carefully wiping every trace speck of espresso from the threading(and everywhere else)and taking extreme care screwing on the top portion slowly helps to resolve it(also using the lesser water level in the measuring cup provided with the pot is necessary). Otherwise, a good product and a low tech latte! How do you like the end result? Oh, also heat the pot at mediumish only!!!

I've tried those things and while it's a bit better it still leaks. Bialetti is replacing it, they tell me there are some 'lemons' out there. I think the coffee is fabulous so I really hope this can be resolved one way or another.

Update: Just made a batch on a fischer sci lab hotplate with whole milk and it didn't leak nor did the milk overflow and yesterday, using 1% milk it did overflow. I didn't know this would become a research project!!
