Couldn't resist all the special appetizers last night (fresh oysters, fried oysters, gyoza, etc,). Now stuck with most of the main course (tuna, fluke, salmon sushi...tuna maki, etc.)
Shame to waste it...any ideas?
Once tried to tempura leftovers, but the result was fairly greasy, and although the rice base heated through and wasn't hard anymore, the fish was way overcooked.
Have zapped vegetable sushi rolls with some sucess, but never raw fish-a possible option?

Oops! An ah-ha moment.
Your response is just another one of the many reasons to keep me high on this chowsite.
Even though it made me feel like a stupida...
And the rice and nori was just a sittin' in the cupboard waiting...right under my dysfunctional nose.
And I thought I was better than that-oh well!
Totally excellent, simple but elegant solution to the "problem".
So obvious, in retrospect, natch...
Handrolls! Who woulda thought?
You did-thanks!
BTW, the handrolls turned out to be delectable;it's amazing what you can do when someone points you in the right direction, even if you were clueless to begin with!

When we do sushi at home it's usually handrolls, since they don't require a lot of skill, so they lend themselves to roll-your-own parties. Usually way more food prepared than needed, almost always toss the rice and make fresh the next day to deal with the leftovers.

I'm kinda jonesing to make some up to try the $5 Kimlan aged black soy I read about (here, I think) recently. It was killer in the pot sticker dipping sauce I made up earlier.

Seafood Udon or Ramen? Heat the broth to absolutely boiling and lay the sliced fish on top just before serving. It cooks just slightly and flaors the broth.
