Amount of pie filling for 9" pie shell

  • t

I found a recipe for Lemon Curd. It makes 4 1/2 pints. How much filling does a 9" pie shell hold? Thanks.

  1. 4-1/2 pints is 9 cups. That's quite a lot of lemon curd. When I make a pie, I usually aim for about 6 cups of filling - I'm talking about sliced apples, for instance - and they get mounded up. Why don't you just pour water into a pie plate and measure it?

Thanks, I didn't even think of measuring with water. Not a baker as you can see.
