Can you cut Silpat?

  • a

My Silpat pad doesn't fit my cookie sheets - it's wider than my department-store pans. Can I cut the Silpat so it fits?

  1. You are not supposed to cut Silpat mats. I'd buy a new pan before I cut my silpats.

Commercially, the stuff comes in rolls. Of course you can cut it. You might void your warrenty, like when you rent a car in Hawaii, and then climb Moana Kea, but you only live once.

    2. I cut mine - some people advise against, but Ive not had any problem with fraying etc.

      1. I cut mine years ago (and am still living, I think)
two halves of a whole was cheaper than
        two whole half sheets.

Just be sure to roll rather than fold for storage.

        1. It should be fine as long as you don't use high heat in your oven (IE 425 degrees and above).
