ISO: garlic dip baked in bread

  • c

I saw this posted on this board several months ago and was sure I printed it for future use but now I can't find it. I don't remember what was in the dip part except garlic but it was then put inside a hollowed round loaf, wrapped in foil and baked for maybe an hour or so. Unfortunately I also don't remember who posted it. Anyone remember this? Thanks

  1. I made one posted here from a chowhound picnic. It didn't thrill me or my guests. Maybe you will like it though.

    1. i have one but it has artichokes in it- people love it. would you like that?

I would LOVE that recipe if you don't mind. It sounds great.

i'll abbreviate it to make it easier but you'll get the idea.

hollow out loaf of sourdough bread.
in 2 T of butter, saute 1 bunch chopped green onions and 6 minced cloves of garlic until onions wilt.

cut 8 oz cream cheese into chunks; add onions and garlic, 1 pint sour cream, and 12 oz grated cheddar cheese. mix well, fold in one 10 oz can artichoke hearts, drained and cut in quarters (water packed, not marinated) .
put all of this into bread, place top on bread, wrap double in reynolds wrap and bake at 350 for hour and half to two hours. use leftover bread and slices of warm garlic bread for dipping

Thank you, I think this may be the same one I was thinking of. I couldn't remember anything else except the garlic and that it baked for a long time. Thanks for posting.
