Cabernet Cranberry Sauce

There was a cranberry discussion on General Topics and my recipe for Cabernet Cranberry sauce was mentioned. I responded and added the recipe which I have been instructed to move. So here it is for those who want it. I made it on Wednesday with some Zinfandel I had open.

Combine 1 picked over 12 oz. bag of cranberries in a deep saucepan with 1 C.sugar and 1 C. Cabernet and 1 cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat and simmer until the berries all pop. Stir in a tsp. of tangerine or orange zest and chill.

Any big taste difference between the zin and the cab?

I'd have to do a side by side taste testing. Both are good.

I made this last year using the original recipe and with a variation: I substituted Chambord for the cabernet. Both were very tasty.

Hey Candy - I'm going to try this out Monday but I was wondering if you've ever tried adding perhaps a little habenaro or serrano for a little zip. I'm going to try two batches, one with and one without. I'll let you know if it works.
