Best wood for a French rolling pin?

nooodles Oct 11, 2005 02:49 AM

In people's experience, does it matter what kind of wood a rolling pin is made out of?

I figure this is something I'm only going to need to buy once--it's just a big wooden stick with no moving parts, after all. So I want to get it right the first time. TIA.

I'm pretty sure mine is maple. You want a hard wood with a fine grain.
