Hungry for Beef Stroganoff

Chowderhead Feb 23, 2004 11:06 AM

I'm hungry for some good solid comfort food...namely, beef stroganoff. Anyone have any leads for good stroganoff in the city? I'd rather eat out than cook at home.

    Katia's Russian Restaurant
600 5th Avenue at Balboa St.
    San Francisco

I usually order my favorite Pelmeni. Katia is friendly and the food is always satisfying, so perhaps other chowhounds can vouch for the stroganoff.

I actually was thinking about the beef stroganoff at Katia's on my way to work today. It's nice and surprisingly light here.

      Russian Renaissance on geary

Katyas food is tasty but it is slanted for American palate (if I remember correctly Beef stroganoff in Katyas is served over noodles, whereas original recipe calls for home made fries)
