Maida Heatter's is my favourite. I've tried many recipes for date nut loaf but this one is outstanding.

My family has been making this one for generations. And its easy.
16 dates cut up (use the best dates you can find)
3/4 cup water boiling
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter melted
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup walnuts chopped
Combine dates, water and soda and let set 15 mins. Combine rest of ingredients. Bake at 350 for approx 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
