OK - Pasta Machine Recommendations?

  • d

I'm enjoying my renewed interest in homemade pasta but I am already tired of the hand-cranked machine (it isn't a great model, I guess.)

Any recommendations for electric pasta making machine?

  1. The KitchenAid rollers for the large mixer are great if you are really into pasta making...of course you need the mixer. There are a number of posts recently on the attachment.

    1. Assuming you have a standard pasta machine like Atlas and the one sold at Wms.Sonoma (Bialetti, Imperial?), you can buy a motor that your machine clamps onto. It worked great for me and was much less expensive than getting a whole new machine. I got my motor many years ago at Zabar's, but I am sure that they are available elsewhere.

Second the rec on electrifying the Atlas. Aside from adding some muscle that my aging frame frankly comes up short on, it gives you an extra hand to manage the input and output - a thing that is very much lacking in the manual version.
