removing sausage casings

Anyone have a suggestion on removing casings from sausages? I don't like the chewiness of the casings and have not found an easy way to remove the casing and keep the sausage shape. Thanks in advance.

  1. Remove them after you cook the sausage, not before.

    1. make a shallow slit the length of the sausage. gently pull the casing off. be very careful with it while cooking and it will stay in large chunks, but it will break apart to some extent. this will work better with finer ground sausages. coarser ground links will have large fat pockets that will dissolve and cause it to break apart. do not try to grill it.

      you might try looking for (or make your own) sausages with different types of casings. it may just be certain casings are objectionable to you.
