Darda Restaurant now in Fremont

  • a

Went to 99 Ranch today and saw some grand opening flowers outside a former ABC Sandwich shop. It's now Darda Restaurant-Chinese Islamic style cooking, same as the Milpitas branch.
Haven't tried it yet, opened since Feb 6, 2004.

  1. This is great news. Looking forward to trying it out soon. Darda is one of the best Islamic-Chinese restaurants in the bay area, hopefully this branch will continue that standard.

Now Fremont area will have two Islamic-Chinese restaurants, Darda and Peking Eastern House.

How do you like Peking Eastern/dishes you tried there ?

I tried it a year ago and it was pretty good I thought.

I also liked it, I'll be posting a full review soon.

    2. After reading your post and being available for lunch in the Fremont area, I picked up my mom and went to Darda. I think I've also been to this restaurant when it was something else. The restaurant was pretty much the same decor/color as it's former life.

We ordered two lunch specials: kung pao chicken $5.45 (i think) and lamb with pickled cabbage $6.45. Both dishes lacked the robust flavor I had been accustomed to at the Milpitas location. The lamb dish was quite bland and the chicken lacked any kick. We also ordered the sesame dough like thing in the thin variety. That was the BEST part of the meal, though it came well after our other dishes had cooled down.

I think I'm going to stick to going to the Darda in Milpitas. I was quite disappointed with the dishes I ordered today. Maybe they are still working out the kinks?

I would say that Darda is better than the Chinese Islamic restaurants in SoCal. The "house bread" with curry sauce is unbelievably good. The one thing that I don't care for are their hot pots. There are no glaring faults like their being too oily or the meat being fat held together by gristle. They just aren't tasty.

This topic has been dormant since 2004. The Fremont Darda closed quite a while back.
