Frozen Seafood Combo, what to do with it?

  • v

My guy bought a frozen package of squid, octopus, cuttlefish, shrimp etc seafood mix and I don't know what to do with it. Ofcourse I have worked with shrimp before but not the others mentioned and am concerned about overcooking and turning it into a chewy mess. Does anyone have good recipes for using this? Thank you!

  1. seafood fettuccini in a alfredo sauce

    - sear the seafood olive oil & garlic (set aside)
    - make an alfredo sauce to your preference (lots of fresh basil and parm.reg.)
    - (optional, pan sear some crook neck/zucchini squash)

toss together over fresh boiled pasta

Based on the description of the package - it probably is cleaned but you will want to make sure the squid quill has been removed before using.

    2. I am assuming you got this seafood combo pack from 99 Ranch or similar Asian market. I buy this too. Sauteeing in olive oil and garlic and then pouring a jar of your favorite pasta sauce is an easy thing to do. Then just toss the sauce with seafood into angel hair.

My favorite though is to make Peruvian Saltado from it. Requires more work, but it's great. My recipe includes steak and chicken with the seafood, but that's just because it works with just about anything.

      Here's the link.

      1. Defrost according to package. Marinate them in EVOO, lemon juice, garlic, and red pepper flakes for about 15 min. If you have an indoor or outdoor grill, then string them onto skewers (pre-soaked in water), lightly salt, and then grill on high heat til done, about 1 min./side. Otherwise, just pan fry them loose on high heat in a skillet til done. Serve atop a dressed salad or light pasta.
