slow cooker recommendation?

I've heard a lot about them recently, and though I know nothing at all about them, the idea appeals to me...can anyone recommend a good one? thank you.
One thing to consider is the size of the pot. How many people are you cooking for? Do you want to use the crockpot to cook whole birds or large cuts of meat? Deciding the appropriate size will help to narrow your choices.
Rival makes good slow cookers in a few sizes that are not very expensive. my niece just got one from All Clad for her bridal shower, but has not yet used it so I cannot comment on how good it is. i had the 6 qt one and traded up to an 8 qt. most important thing to remember when cooking with a slow cooker is that you do not need to use a lot of liquid as all the liquid stays in and does not evaporate. i have been using a slow cooker for years. you do not have to worry about leaving it at home cooking while you are away. i do it all winter long. you should go out and get a cookbook as it tells you the amount of liquid to use. i have made quite a few dishes in my slower cooker and enjoyed just about every one of them (except a pork chop dish that did not come out very well). enjoy.
