For the looming gazpacho season I'd like to make life a little easier and try a hand blender, since it seems less hassle to set up and clean than a food processor.

Cuisinart and Braun seem to have comparable models. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better? Or any comments about this gadget in general would also be appreciated.

I've had a cuisinart model for 6+ years now, use it all the time and its still perfect. Sometimes, I'll get lazy and use it to make single frozen drinks, etc... Very powerful and cleans up in about 30 seconds. Only issue for me is the cord get in the way on occasion. But, i saw a model recently with a retractable cord, now thats ingenious!

I've had my cusinart forever....10+ years anyway. It runs great, works great. If they make a cordless and I happen to see one I'd buy it. That's the only problem, I've found.
