All Clad SS - frustrated with care

  • p

Hi all,

I just got a set of AC SS and am wondering what is up with the white stains all over the interior of any SS pieces I used. I tried washing with liquid dish soap and sponge, ran in the dishwasher and the marks are still there.

Any ideas? Thanks so much, any help is much appreciated.

  1. White marks may be minerals from the water. Try putting some vinegar in the pan and letting it sit for awhile and see if that removes the marks.

Thanks! I poured some white vinegar in the pans and let it sit for 10 minutes. The marks lessened but are still visible. Do you think it would be safe to soak the pan for an hour or so? Or longer maybe? Thanks again!

Yes. Stainless, unlike aluminum or cast iron, endures well long contact with acidic things like vinegar.

Also, try giving them a scrub with Barkeeper's Friend. Works great.

My All-Clad SS pans always look great after I cook tomatoeos in them, for that reason.

      2. You need some Barkeeper's Friend. I had the same problem with my pans after I bought them. I went into Williams Sonoma and they told me to use the Barkeeper's Friend every time I wash the pans. Sprinkle it in the bottome of the pan, add a bit of water and use a sponge to clean the inside and outside. It will keep your pans looking as good as new!
