vegetable puree

In the spirit of trying new things, I bought some parsnips at the grocery store. I made a parsnip-apple puree. It tastes good, but I can't help thinking that it's just gourmet baby food. How does one eat a vegetable puree? Should I serve it with bread? Add stock and make it into soup?

  1. If your puree is like mashed potatoes, then serve it alongside dishes that generally go well w/ mashed potatoes. If it's more like a sauce, then treat it as such. Either way, your parsnip-apple creation sounds like it would go well w/ pork loin or chops IMO.
