chocolate craving - please help!

  • n

Massive chocolate craving has hit...I have a well stocked baking pantry, including plenty of baking chocolate, chocolate chips etc - any quick easy and fabulous ideas?

  1. I had great success with a stovetop-cooked chocolate custard/pudding.

Cream 4 egg yolks with about 3/4 cup of sugar, and a pinch of salt.

Heat up 2 cups of cream to scalding temperature, infuse with vanilla bean or add vanilla extract and lemon/lime zest.

Pour cream into yolks slowly, mixing until all added in. Put the mixture on top of the stove until it thickens into a creme anglaise-like texture.

Fold in melted chocolate, continue to heat until it gets quite thick. Eat straight out of the pot or refrigerate.

My preference is to sit in front of TV eating out of the pot.

Help! How much chocolate do you add? And what kind!
      Thanks, p.j.

    2. I find when I really need chocolate, good brownies are the best cure for the urge.

      1. Use a scissor to neatly cut open the bag of chocolate chips. Pour chips into a glass custard dish. Enjoy!!

If that is too complicated, you can tear the bag open and insert your fist.

while this option was tempting, i ended up going with my usual brownies, with extra chocolate chips. im always looking for new chocolate recipes, but usually end up with brownies, or my fist in the bag of chips!

I love brownies with chocolate chips and walnuts! Yum.

I think that is what I will make for my birthday cake next week (for the umpteenth year in a row!)...although I might start with the No Pudge brownie mix this year, so I can eat more than one!
