recipe for large chocolate Easter eggs?

Does anyone remember, and have a recipe for, those large solid Easter eggs that I remember from around the 1970's? They had a more solid, nougat textured filling, usually maple cream or some other flavor, and were about 6" long and 4" high.
I'm having a nostalgic craving and can't seem to find even a reference to them. TIA!

      Thanks. I talked to my brother in NY and he sounded like he'd seen them around. It sounds like the reason I haven't seen them in a while is because I'm now in the South, not because they don't make 'em anymore. I guess mail order will have to be the way to go.
      Next time you're in the store and see one, have it and think of me!

        My church in Titusville, FL makes them every year and sells them like crazy. I'll try and get the recipe from my mom (she's still in Titusville). They might keep it secret though, not sure. They had maple, peanut butter, vanilla and chocolate. Dang those things were good.

          Good chow tip about the church- you might want to post on the Florida board so hounds around Titusville can stock up!

            That would be wonderful. This waiting on the goodwill of my Northern family is just not quick enought for me!

              I have my brother on the case. My mother's church no longer sells them, it seems but my bro in Florida is going to get the recipe before the woman that made them all dies with it in her head....that would be tragic!!!

              I'll post as soon as I get it.
