      <content>A few days at most, depending how you've stored it (and type/brand). Even in an airtight container, not very long.
 
Smell it: if it's bad it will smell sour. If you've stored it in water and the water is turning murky/slimey, it's bad.</content>

      <content>If you change the water (and you should store it in water) daily, you should be able to get a week out of it with no problem.  Filtered water generally works out better if you're tapwater is noticeabley chlorinated.</content>
