Many thanks to all of you who responded and helped me. Today I went to Broadway Panhandler and got my pastry bags and tip and silver foil cupcake bake cups. Came to $7.28 with tax. Now I'm ready to bake cupcakes and decorate them. Thanks a lot.

By the way: the two gals behind the counter had never heard of CHOWHOUND so I gave them the email address. We must spread the gospel according to Jim. I guess you could say we're all Leff-ties. They said they are going to check the site out tonight when they get off work. Two more converts, I hope.

There was a large selection of tips to choose from. I got the one I thought I would use the most. I also bought the Ateco clear disposable decorating bags (10 pags, 23 inches) They were $2.95.

Broadway Panhandler-477 Broome Street (at Mercer St) NY 10013. (212) 966-9017. Just in case you need the information.

Thanks again everyone. I'll let you know how everything turns out this week when I make the cupcakes and decorate them.

Oh, and BTW, I went back to the original thread and noticed I goofed on the location of NY Cake, it's on West 22nd, not 23rd. Higher prices notwithstanding, it's definitely worth a browse if you happen to be nearby.

I have actually been there. I found the store so filthy I refused to return. In a city this large (New York City) with as many chefs, cooking schools, restaurants, why is there only one store like this? And why is it so dirty and unkempt? Ugh.
