my roommates and i are hosting a holiday potluck. by chance the first dishes offered are chinese and thai, so we've decided to go with an asian theme for all of the dishes. so far we've got, homemade pork & chive dumplings, sauteed stringbeans in black bean sauce, shrimp & chicken pad thai, and butternut squash soup.

i'll make a pot of steamed rice. but can anyone offer me other suggestions on what to make?

Why not make a Asian dessert? Search the internet for eight treasure rice for Chinese, sticky mango rice for Thai, and rice pudding for Indian.

Thai ginger salad. Basic ingredients are: minced ginger, fish sauce, lime, some crushed Thai chilies, shredded cabbage, shredded lettuce, cilantro, dry roasted peanuts or soynuts, slivers of fried garlic. You can make it a day ahead of time and chill. I usually add the ingredients to taste but can get you a recipe with more precise info if you like.
